Carpenter's Brook Fish Hatchery
VOLUNTEER • DONATE • SUPPORT
Current budget constraints have forced the county to eliminate two positions at the hatchery and curtail some expenditures. Volunteer opportunities available include:
|
•Live the life of a hatchery aide. Feed fish; take sample counts to determine fish size, clean ponds, repair nets, aerators, and feeders. Maximum two people per day. |
|
•Fish Stockers needed to help stock area rivers and stream. Help load the truck and then ride along and stock your favorite stream. This job requires some lifting and walking. Must be 18 or older to participate.
Last Week of March – End of May; Tues. – Thurs. 8:30 am – 4:00 pm. Three people required daily.
•Volunteers are needed to run the hatchery Time Out to Fish Program. The program involves helping persons with disabilities and seniors to bait hooks, cast and reel in the big ones.
First Week in June - End of July. Tues. – Thurs. 8:00 am -12:00 or 1:00pm – 4:00 pm. Maximum two people per day.
No experience required and all positions require advanced registration. Email or call the hatchery at 689-9367, 8:30 am – 12:30 pm Monday – Friday. If there isn’t an answer, leave a message and someone will get back to you within 24 hours.
In addition, the hatchery is looking for donations, big or small, to continue the 70+-year tradition of stocking area streams. Contributions can be made to:
