
Dogs Allowed
Please follow these regulations to help keep the parks clean and safe for everyone.
- Dogs must be on a leash, no longer than six feet at all times (except when in the off leash areas, at Wegmans Good Dog Park or the Off Leash Area at Jamesville Beach Park.)
- Dogs must be controlled by their owners at all times.
- Skating/biking with your pet is not allowed.
- Owners must clean up after their pets. Clean-up mitts and waste stations are located throughout the parks.
- Dogs must be licensed, tagged and have a current rabies shot as required by NYS Law. The person accompanying the dog must have proof of rabies vaccination with them. Vaccines for other communicable dog diseases such as distemper are strongly recommended.
- At Onondaga Lake Park, dogs are allowed on the Shoreline Walking Trail but they are not permitted on the East Shore Trail (wheels only) during the peak season of April to October and they are not allowed on the tram.
Pets are not allowed at Beaver Lake Nature Center, Rosamond Gifford Zoo or NBT Bank Stadium (unless for a specially designated pet friendly event.)
Pets are not allowed on athletic fields, playgrounds, on the beaches or in buildings.
Pets are not allowed at special events (unless it is a specially designated pet friendly event.)
Erie Canalway / Jordan Level Trail
In accordance with New York State law all dogs must be restrained by a leash or chain not more than six feet in length, every dog owner must have a dog license tag attached to their dog’s collar and it shall be the duty of each dog owner or person having possession, custody or control of a dog to remove any feces left by his or her dog on any public park property.

Carpenter’s Brook Fish Hatchery
Leashed pets are allowed in all areas of the park with the exception of the children's playground. Please help keep the park clean and pick up after your pet. There is a refuse pick up station located near the public restroom facility.

Dogs are allowed as long as they are on at least a 6' leash and under control of their owner at all times. Dogs are not allowed on the fields.

Pets must be on a leash not longer than 6', inoculated for rabies and never be left unattended. Mutt mitts and receptacles are provided for cleaning up after your dog. Dogs are not allowed on the beach, playground, in buildings or in the beach picnic areas during beach season. Pets are not allowed at special events. There is a designated off leash area in the park.
Off-Leash Area Rules
- Dogs must be under visual and voice control of owner at ALL TIMES, dogs may run free in the Special Event Field section of the the park EXCEPT during Special Events. Pets are not allowed at Special Events unless specifically designated as an animal friendly event.
- Visual control means you can see your dog; voice control means your dog can hear you, both are for the safety of you & your dog and others using the area.
- When leaving the off-leash area, dogs must be leashed, see information above.
- Owners must clean-up after their pets. Clean-up mitts and waste stations are located throughout the park.
Oneida Shores Park
Dogs are not permitted on the beach or within the playground play areas. In accordance with New York State law all dogs must be restrained by a leash or chain not more than six feet in length, every dog owner must have a dog license tag attached to their dog’s collar and it shall be the duty of each dog owner or person having possession, custody or control of a dog to remove any feces left by his or her dog on any public park property.
