33rd Annual Lights on the Lake
Wednesday, October 19, 2022
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon and Galaxy Media Chief Operating Officer Carrie Wojtaszek announce that the 33rd season of Wegmans Lights on the Lake is scheduled to illuminate Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool, November 14–January 13, 2023, from 5-10pm, nightly. “Once again Onondaga County is partnering with Galaxy Media to present the 33rd season of Lights on the Lake,” said County Executive Ryan McMahon. “This holiday tradition continues to grow and remain a favorite event for so many people. We appreciate the collaborative effort of the Parks Department and Galaxy to continuously improve the show and look forward to celebrating the 33rd anniversary.”
Lights on the Lake will bring back the charity drive-throughs to kickoff and wrap-up the Lights on the Lake season. Visitors are encouraged to support local charities by driving through the show on Monday, November 14th and Tuesday, November 15th for the reduced rate of $5 per car. Lights on the Lake will be extended by five days once again this year to support non-profits within our community. From Monday, January 9th to Friday, January 13th, visitors will have five more opportunities to visit the show, for the reduced rate of $5 per vehicle, to say goodbye to the holiday season and to help five worthy organizations. These tickets must also be purchased online and in advance with proceeds going directly to the charities. Applications are currently being accepted, through Friday, November 4th, to be the recipients of the charity drive-thru proceeds. Local 501C3 charities can apply at www.lightsonthelake.com by clicking on the “Charity Submissions” tab. A doggy drive-thru will be held on Tuesday, November 15th and all proceeds from that night will go to HumaneCNY. All charity nights will run from 5-10pm and tickets must be purchased online, in advance at www.lightsonthelake.com.
On Wednesday, November 16th, Lights on the Lake will support the men and women who work tirelessly to protect our country and invite any active military or veteran to drive through, for free, on Salute the Troops Night. Online reservations are not needed but a military ID will be required at the ticket booth. Lights on the Lake will be conducting a food drive during the Salute the Troops Night this year. Feed Our Vets organization will be at the event collecting canned goods at the ticket booth. With inflation on the rise, the demand for their services have increased dramatically. The Feed Our Vets mission is to leave no Veteran or military member on the battlefield of hunger. Since 2009, they have served over 40,000 CNY Veterans, military members, and their families by distributing over 2.9 million pounds of groceries and $211,000 in gift cards. They receive no federal, state, or local government funding. They rely solely on the generosity of our community.
On Sunday, November 20th at 6am, the popular Lights on the Lake 5K will return to Onondaga Lake Park. The early start time of the race will allow for runners to view the lights while running before sunrise. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. The race will be capped at 750 runners. Registration for the run is now available at https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/Liverpool/LightsontheLake5K.
