County Executive Ryan McMahon and Galaxy Media Announce 30th Season of Lights on the Lake

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon and Galaxy Media Chief Operating Officer Carrie Wojtaszek announce the 30th season of Wegmans Lights on the Lake is scheduled to illuminate Onondaga Lake Park this season, beginning on November 12th.

“Once again Onondaga County is partnering with Galaxy Media to present the 30th season of Lights on the Lake,” said County Executive Ryan McMahon.  “This holiday tradition continues to grow and remain a favorite event for so many people. We appreciate the collaborative effort of the Parks Department and Galaxy to continuously improve the show and look forward to celebrating the 30th anniversary.”

The public-private partnership has allowed the continuation and growth of an already successful program. Sponsored by Wegmans, collaborative efforts like these have proven to be beneficial in creating exciting events in Onondaga County.

This year Wegmans Lights on the Lake will offer the popular pedestrian-only walk on Tuesday, November 12th with the Lights on the Lake Dog Walk taking place on Wednesday, November 13th.  There is a suggested donation of $2 per person for the walks.  Donations from the walk will benefit Hillside Work Scholarship Connection and donations from the dog walk benefit Humane CNY.  Both walks run from 5-9pm. 

Lights on the Lake is proud to support the men and women who work tirelessly to protect our country.  The drive-through portion of Lights on the Lake will open on November 14th.  Any active military or veteran can drive through on opening night for free.  A military ID will be needed at the ticket booth. The drive thru portion of Lights will run through Sunday, January 5th from 5 -10pm nightly.  The price of admission at the gate will be $10 per car Monday - Thursday and $20 per car Friday - Sunday. Visitors can show their Wegmans Shoppers Club card and pay $6 on Monday or Tuesday evenings.

Discounted advance sale tickets for Lights on the Lake are now available for purchase at all area Wegmans locations until November 13th.  Pre-sale tickets are $6 per vehicle, valid Monday-Thursday or $15 per vehicle, valid Friday-Sunday.

In celebration of the 30th anniversary, Lights on the Lake will hold a 5K run.  The race will be held on Sunday, November 17th at 6:30am.  The early start time of the race will allow for runners to view the lights while running before sunrise.  A percentage of the proceeds will benefit Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in celebration of their 10th anniversary.  The race will be capped at 750 runners.  Registration for the run is now available at https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/Liverpool/LightsontheLake5K.

Visitors can be on the lookout for the following new additions this year: a toy workshop, a reindeer barn, railroad cars and train track, a hummingbird and various toys, butterflies, poinsettia candles and additional lights.
