2024 Parks Winter Photo Contest Announced

Tuesday, January 30, 2024

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon today announced the 6th Annual Parks Winter Photo Contest will start February 1st and run through February 29th. Once again, Syracuse City Parks is joining in on the fun. Participants will be able to scout out the best locations in Onondaga County Parks including Beaver Lake Nature Center, Highland Forest, Oneida Shores and Onondaga Lake Park along with the multitude of City Parks found throughout Syracuse in search of an awardwinning photograph.

County Executive McMahon said, “There is no better way to avoid the winter blues then to get out and enjoy our amazing parks system. No matter what part of the county you call home, there is a county park close by for you to visit and enjoy and while you’re there, snap a picture for submission to our annual photo contest.” McMahon continued, “I am also excited that our partners in the City of Syracuse have also joined us this year again giving folks even more opportunities to capture a photo for submission.”

Photographers of all abilities, age 5 & up, are invited to enter for a chance to win prizes in four categories including Best Action, Best Portrait, Best Winter Scene & Most Artistic. In addition, all entries will be eligible to win the People's Choice Award, which will be selected via an online vote. The contest is free to enter with a limit of two entries per participant.

To be eligible, photos must be taken at any OPEN Onondaga County Park or Syracuse City Park during the contest period of February 1-29, 2024. Regular admission rates, if applicable, will apply. Photographers must follow all park rules, stay on designated paths with the proper equipment (i.e. snowshoes, cross country skis) and obey posted signs. Flash photography is prohibited where indicated. Photo contest entries will only be accepted via an online application and are due by 4 p.m. on March 1, 2024. Late entries will not be accepted.
